Madrone Burl Wood Veneer has a pinkish color with tight clusters and very good figure. It is a fine complement to Pearwood .
Madrone Burl is found primarily in British Columbia and Mexico. It is also known as Madrona Burr, Arbutus, Jarrito, Madro Pacific Madrone, Manzanita, Strawberry Tree, and Modrona Burl.
Madrone burls grow on the root of the tree and are harvested by removing the tree and roots from the ground. Parts of the burl growth are typically visible from above ground at the base of the tree. The burls figure is usually tight and even and the color is generally consistent across the sheet. Our madrone burl wood veneer sheets are have outstanding figure. The highest grade madrone burl veneers are used in everything from keepsake boxes to fine automobiles.
Very little veneer is produced from the trunk, but large growths at the base of the madrona produce this remarkable burl veneer. In what some believe looks like an overhead view of a hilly landscape intertwined with waterways of swirly grain, this warm, inviting, and choice veneer is highly sought after for high-end architectural installations and custom millwork.
