Koto Veneer is yellowish white and exhibits a dull grain in flat cut and a ribbon pattern in quarter cuts.
Koto is also known as African Chestnut
Koto quarter cut wood veneer is a yellowish white to creamy white. Straight grained to slightly interlocked, with a coarse texture. Also usually high in luster and sometimes attractively flecked. Common Uses for Quarter Cut Koto Wood Veneer: Architectural panels, doors, millwork and cabinetry, as well as furniture.
The wood is yellowish-white to cream in color and becomes yellowish-grey when steamed. Sliced veneers are used for door skins and inner surface veneers.
A cream to yellowish colour. It is mainly produced in Quarter cut, stripy for the door industry. The veneer has a tendency to have a woolly grain but this can be sanded out prior to finishing. It is considered to be one of the more competitive species thus its use in mass produced commercial door skins.
It is also used as a backing veneer because of its light colour when more exotic veneers are used on the face of panels. Koto also takes a stain well and from its base colour one can achieve many different colours during a dying process.
